The director of the school, Michel Deschodt, was born and raised in Lille, north of France. Michel joined our school this summer to succeed Pierre-Marie Guinet who opened the school back in 2011. He is certified as primary school teacher, special education teacher, and teacher advisor. He additionally holds a Master in Education and attended last year McGill University’s “Educational Leadership” Masters program in Montreal QC.
After teaching for 21 years he started in 1999 a new career in school administration as primary school director in France, Ontario, Tunisia, and Oregon before joining our team at Lycee Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable. Michel likes to say: "As an educator, my belief is that if students know that we care, they will care what we know; and that our mission is to make school enjoyable and exciting: If students look forward to attending our school they will want to learn." My goal for our school is that Lycee Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable becomes a touchstone for Haiti’s educational system; I share Hand in Hand for Haiti Foundation’s vision that we are educating new generations of leaders and professionals, knowledgeable, caring, principled, open-minded.
