We Give

The highest quality, totally-free education to Haiti’s neediest children

We provide life-changing opportunities for youth in Haiti to break the cycle of poverty and to contribute to a sustainable and financially-independent future.

Why Haiti?How To Give

Why Haiti?

Haiti is the 5th poorest country in the world;
and the poorest in the western hemisphere.*

Only 50% of children in Haiti attend school.
Of those, 30% won’t make it to the 3rd grade, and 60% won’t make it to 6th grade.
Over 80% of teachers lack basic qualifications and have no preservice training.**

On October 3, 2011, we opened the doors to our school, the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable.

Hand in Hand for Haiti is a collective response to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti following the catastrophic earthquake that hit the country on January 12, 2010.

Our founders set out to build a sustainable school complex that offered a high-quality education for the neediest children of the city of Saint-Marc.

We are Haiti’s first totally-free school of excellence.

We provide additional supports to ensure our children are healthy and ready to learn, including uniforms, meals, books, school supplies, transportation and healthcare.
